Final Proposal

Final Proposal ~ Pitch

Textual Analysis

21 Pilots ~ Heathens

All my friends are heathens, take it slow "slow" clam down
Wait for them to ask you who you know
Please don't make any sudden moves
You don't know the half of the abuse
All my friends are heathens, take it slow
Wait for them to ask you who you know
Please don't make any sudden moves
You don't know the half of the abuse

Welcome to the room of people
Who have rooms of people that they loved one day
Docked away
Just because we check the guns at the door
Doesn't mean our brains will change from hand grenades
You're lovin' on the psychopath sitting next to you
You're lovin' on the murderer sitting next to you
You'll think, "How'd I get here, sitting next to you?"
But after all I've said, please don't forget

All my friends are heathens, take it slow
Wait for them to ask you who you know
Please don't make any sudden moves
You don't know the half of the abuse

We don't deal with outsiders very well
They say newcomers have a certain smell
Yeah, I trust issues, not to mention
They say they can smell your intentions
You're lovin' on the freak show sitting next to you
You'll have some weird people sitting next to you
You'll think "How did I get here, sitting next to you?"
But after all I've said, please don't forget
(Watch it, watch it)

All my friends are heathens, take it slow
Wait for them to ask you who you know
Please don't make any sudden moves
You don't know the half of the abuse

All my friends are heathens, take it slow this is repeated
(Watch it)
Wait for them to ask you who you know
(Watch it)
All my friends are heathens, take it slow
(Watch it)
Wait for them to ask you who you know
(Watch it)

Why'd you come, you knew you should have stayed
(It's blasphemy)
I tried to warn you just to stay away
And now they're outside ready to bust
It looks like you might be one of us

Camera Angles

In the start of the music video there are lots of close ups on specific people and items which really brings the scene together, this makes the set look more dark and gloomy and gives it a edgy feel to it, also after they have done the close up shot they zoom out slowly to build up tension and drama and straight after they zoom back in on the exact scenes. Half way through the music video they use a tracking low angle shot to track the singer while he is walking through the streets of downtown LA. However at the end the music completely stops and you can hear a siren which means they need to evacuate by they are still there

Mise en Scene

The costumes they wear relate to what is happening, most of them are wearing dark clothing and one is wearing sunglasses to shield his eyes from the flames however another one of them is wearing some sort of gang clothing with a headband which relates to where it set in downtown LA which is associated with gangs.

Special Effects

The flames that are in the video are special effects which gives the whole video the death/pain sort of feel which the film is about, this is good because it relates and makes sense so it fits very well also in the middle of the video there are lighting bolts which are also special effects which also can relate to pain

The videos message is about pain and how much damage it can conflict on people and how dangerous it is, also it shows how much damage love can really do to people and what is can cause.

Johnny Cash ~ Hurt

I hurt myself today Putting himself through pain
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real

The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away Tries to get rid of it
But I remember everything

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end It leaves him

And you could have it all
My empire of dirt He doesn't have much
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of shit
Upon my liars chair
Full of broken thoughts He's not the same
I cannot repair

Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here He's not going

Johnny Cash's Hurt is a mix of three different genres which are Folk/Blues and Country
